An ePortfolio page can have a (right) sidebar associated with it, so the author can provide links to related or supporting information.
What is RSS?
RSS, sometimes known as Really Simple Syndication, is a popular means of sharing content (such as news headlines or weblog entries) without requiring readers to constantly visit a Web site to see what's new. RSS feeds contain headlines and hyperlinks to longer articles or Web pages. These headlines and hyperlinks are displayed in the ePortfolio sidebar. As of Oct. 2006, ePortfolio sidebars can contain atom feed URLs. in addition to RSS URLs. Atom is an alternative format to RSS and is gaining popularily with Google's adoption of it as the standard syndication format ( More information on Atom feeds).
How can I receive RSS feeds?
Each ePortfolio has multiple RSS feeds, plus there are feeds that include multiple ePortfolios (e.g., for a group of eports). To discover an ePortfolio's RSS feed URLs, go to Subscribe (for any ePort) and the feed URLs are denoted as [xml].
Many websites produce associated RSS feeds; the feed URLs can be found on the website itself (often there is a web page listing all of the associated RSS feeds).
